Fishing Trip around St. Bees Island

2 August 2018

On Sunday July 29 Capt. Graham Brake welcomed Doctor Jeremy Thomas and his fellow chiropractors on-board for a beautiful day on the water.

The 6am start saw us travel the first fifteen miles steadily until the fog lifted as we passed St. Bees island.

While the fishing was quiet, the spectacular sights that accompany the annual migration of the Humpback whales through our area more than compensated.

Angela was the star of the day with two Red Emperor showing up her male colleagues who contributed to the catch with a mixture of grassy Sweetlip and Nannygai.

The weekend also coincided with the Mackay Game Fishing club annual Spanish Mackerel Shootout with many fish over 20kgs being weighed further highlighting the diversity of the fishing options available in our area.
